Be sure to visit the culturally and culinarily very interesting town of Mattinata (12 km).
Places of interest in Mattinata include the Chiesa Santa Maria della Luce church, the Museo Civico Mattinata, with necropolis finds, as well as the aforementioned Roman excavations near the harbour.
The 19th-century Palazzo Mantuano houses the municipal library, while the 20th-century Palazzo Barretta is home to the town hall.
Just outside the city, on Monte Sacro, there are also the remains of a medieval Benedictine abbey.
The Baia di Mattinata is known for its extensive, gently sloping beaches. The town is also part of the 120,000-hectare Gargano National Park, which is characterised by pine forests and is a destination for many nature lovers.
Also worth mentioning is Mattinata's beautiful location, surrounded by forests and olive groves and dominated by two majestic limestone cliffs in the sea, the Faraglioni.
