## Emplacement
Ajaccio's old town, which surrounds the port and citadel, features pretty narrow streets with tall, colorful houses. The Place Maréchal-Foch, adorned with a fountain, is charming with its palm trees and plane trees.
In one of the old town's narrow streets, rue Saint-Charles, you'll find the house where Napoleon Bonaparte was born. Today, the Bonaparte house houses a museum displaying his personal memorabilia. Other items (documents and medals) are on display in the Salon Napoléonien in the Hôtel de Ville. Other museums include the Musée Fesch, with its collection of Italian paintings, and the Musée A Bandera, dedicated to Corsican history and culture.
The Gulf of Ajaccio is marked by beautiful beaches and seaside resorts such as Porticcio.
