SISTER PROPERTY TO VILLA DO MAR I, VILLA DO MAR II AND COTTAGE DO MAR
Located on a fajã (a piece of land at the foot of a cliff) in the sunny Calheta area, close to its sister villas (Villa do Mar I and Villa do Mar II) and slightly elevated, Vila do Mar III has been beautifully converted from a farmers barn into a delightful villa with outstanding views and a heated pool that reaches into the living area.
The living area is full of light and has full length sliding windowpanes that provide direct access to the pool and those gorgeous sea-views. It leads to the large fully equipped kitchen with a built-in open barbecue. All bedrooms are on the first floor and have en-suite shower rooms.
The large swimming pool occupies the front of the villa and is surrounded by garden and some banana trees. A traditional lookout point at the edge of the pool terrace is perfect to appreciate those views during afternoon cocktail hour!
The Villa is secluded and very private and off the beaten track and accessed via a narrow steep driveway. The whole house and grounds is perched overlooking the banana tree plantations that suround it, and affords astounding views - you feel as one with the ocean.
A lovely little beach hut is located right on the rocky beach 30 metres below, and shared by, the three Villas do Mar. A front terrace with sunbeds, outdoor shower and built-in barbecue and large table (seating for 16), is complemented with a kitchen (fridge, 4-ring hob) and toilet. Access is via a pathway with steps that leads from the level of the Villas do Mar down to the beach.
There are many walks around Calheta and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra, with its many levada walks, makes this villa perfectly located for walking in Madeira and for enjoying a lovely holiday surrounded by the beautiful Madeira countryside.
All bedrooms are on the first floor and have en-suite shower rooms.

Madeira
Some seven hundred kilometres west of the African coast, Madeira is a stunning mountainous emerald island, lapped by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. The first island to be discovered by the Portuguese navigators in 1419, Madeira became an important resting place on the long trip to the new world. From these humble beginnings, the holiday trade was formed and this spectacular island, which used to be the favourite place of the rich and famous, is now the preferred choice of all sorts of visitors, from those seeking year-round warm temperatures to nature lovers and sightseers, sports and active enthusiasts of all ages. Culture, history, stunning nature, a myriad of sea and land activities, added to a great foodie scene means Madeira has something for everyone. No matter where you go on the island you are rewarded by fabulous scenery, tiny villages and friendly people. With a population of over 100,000, Funchal is not only the capital, but also the 'heart' of Madeira and home to many of the islanders. This makes it a busy, chic, cosmopolitan and fun city, full of shops, shopping centres, bars, cafés and a great variety of restaurants and entertainment; a vibrant, cosmopolitan town where historic splendour and breath-taking natural beauty combine with a thoroughly modern atmosphere.
